Do I need a VSMP permit in Virginia?
Often, yes, Virginia's Stormwater Management Program requires a permit once a project disturbs a set amount of land (generally 2,500 square feet or more, though thresholds vary by locality), covering erosion control plus long-term stormwater management. We handle the SWPPP, permitting, and installation as part of the job.
What happens if I fail a stormwater inspection?
The inspector issues a notice of corrective action with a deadline to fix the problem. Silt fence down, an unmaintained basin, and exposed soil are common findings. We offer same-week site visits to fix a failed inspection before it escalates to a stop-work order or fine.
What's the difference between erosion control and stormwater management?
Erosion & sediment control (E&SC) is short-term work during construction: silt fence, sediment basins, and stabilization that keep dirt on-site. Stormwater management is the long-term design controlling runoff rate and quality after construction. VSMP compliance covers both, and we handle both.
